Londrina at the Forefront of Urban Mobility: CIOP and the Smart Transportation Revolution

Recently, Clever Devices participated in the 9th Meeting of the Paraná Forum of Urban Mobility Secretaries and Directors, held in Londrina, Brazil, where the main focus was on one of our most strategic and pioneering implementations in Latin America: CIOP (Londrina Operations Intelligence Center). 

Londrina currently has a fleet of 384 buses serving a population of approximately 580,000 people, making it the second-largest city in the state of Paraná. Its economic significance is also notable: Londrina is one of the state’s main financial, industrial, and commercial hubs, exerting significant influence in northern Paraná and making a substantial contribution to Brazil’s economic development. This importance reinforces the need to invest in innovative and efficient urban mobility solutions, such as CIOP, to ensure quality, efficiency, and integration in the local public transportation system. 

CIOP: The Heart of Smart Mobility in Londrina 

CIOP is not just a control center; it is a true intelligence hub that is transforming the management of the city’s public transportation. CMTU Londrina, through its concessionaires, made a strategic investment in implementing our Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), elevating service to a new level of excellence. 

At the event, we presented in detail how CIOP works. It offers intelligent, optimized, and integrated fleet management, providing managers with the necessary tools for agile decision-making. 

Real-Time Information for Managers 

As our VP of Strategic Accounts for Latin America, Mauricio Corte, highlighted, digitizing the public transportation system is essential to making operations more efficient by ensuring availability, frequency, and punctuality. Clever Devices’ ITS turns complex data into actionable information, such as: 

• Executive Dashboards: Quick-view screens display operational behavior (in real-time, by schedule, delayed, etc.), enabling agency decision makers to quickly assess the status of operations and make informed strategic decisions. 

• Real-Time Fleet Management (CAD/AVL): Operators can view the entire fleet (line by line) and its status (ahead, delayed, or on time) on the Synoptic Board and map. The system aims to ensure the first action comes from the driver, promoting self-regulation and ensuring availability, frequency, and punctuality. 

• Integrated Communication: The tool enables immediate communication between the control center and drivers via messages, automated announcements, and chat, speeding up operational coordination.
