GEOFENCING IS A PART OF CLEVER DEVICES COMPLETE ITS SOLUTION
Geofencing, or a geofence, is a virtual perimeter that is set around a specific area using GPS coordinates to create boundaries. A geo-fence can be used for many different reasons, from location-based advertising to the establishment of safety and security zones.
CLEVER DEVICES GEOFENCING PROTECTS MAINTENANCE WORKERS IN NEW YORK
To satisfy emission regulations, all diesel buses purchased after 2007 must be equipped with a regeneration system designed to remove diesel particulate matter from the exhaust gas of their engines. During this regeneration process a small but potential fire hazard exists. Through the use of geofencing, our SmartBus™ automatically inhibits the engine’s regeneration process as buses approach or enter any of the 30 New York City bus operating locations.
This would not be possible without the use of our proprietary PerfectNav® precision navigation technology, and a SmartBus™ database, which contains the geographic characteristics of each of the 30 locations.
